Agnès Maelström - mes chers

As is well known to all, a new year is synonymous with “resolutions”; according to tradition, I like to write them, and I also like to break them…!

So, here is the list of the 5 resolutions that I aspire to follow this year:

1. Update my Instagram page every day for a year (challenge!); it will be the same for Facebook and Pinterest.

2. In the same vein: write a blog post every week, host the discussion forum, and launch my first signature course in Modern Bibliotherapy.

3. Move more, sleep more, eat better.

4. Accept that when you write, as with any other profession, some days are better than others.

And it’s not the end of the world.

5. Finally, most important of all: give myself time to enjoy my loved ones without being riddled with guilt.

Because, I have to admit, I find it extremely difficult to accept not to work.
The fact of wanting to become a writer is not enough: you have to work. Hard. Every single day.

And that involves sacrifices.

Therefore, I put tremendous pressure on myself to let my loved ones see that I would have done everything in my power to make it work.

And then, when you see the fruit of your labours for the first time, right there, on the corner of the desk… There are no words. That feeling of fulfilment, finally…

One last resolution for the road. Better: more than a resolution, a promise.

This year, I publish my debut novel.

Tell me, what are your resolutions for the new year?

Looking forward to reading you,

Agnès Maelström is a French author who writes supernatural horror novels portraying terrifying characters dealing with abuse, violence, and trauma. Fascinated with the Occult, she has been studying Witchcraft since childhood. Her debut novel, Porcelaine, takes place in 1993 in Danvers, a small town in Massachusetts built on the remains of the infamous Salem Village. The quiet town experiences a new period of terror when Sarah, a young girl whose sharp humor is matched only by the blade of her knife, meets Porcelaine, a bewitched doll.
