Agnès Maelström - mes chers

Music is Life.

Without music, I wouldn’t be alive anymore.

I know; that sounds a bit dramatic.

(Un)fortunately, it’s both dramatic and true.

Yes, music saved my life. Music is my safe haven.

Even until this day, actually: whether it’s by playing the piano, or the viola, or taking opera singing lessons, and soon adding some Metal distortion techniques, I will always take refuge in the comforting warmth of music.

Is it easy?

Heck, no!

Is it painful?

Well, sometimes… Music is feeling: pure, raw, visceral feeling.

It’s like fear.

Or love.

You can’t fake, and you can’t hide. You show yourself in your true colors. You’re more than naked: you are dissected. You’re lying right there, on the cold metallic operatic table, and everyone can see your insides.

That can be gross, at times.

But, you know what? That’s liberating, as well. Because, for one of the very few moments in our modern lives, you are free to be exactly who you are.

And, when you have the chance, the honor even, to share that moment with someone else, you realize something amazing; you’re not alone anymore.

I already have the chance to share music with my husband, who’s a great metal guitarist (you may check his awesome covers right here*!), and my mother, a wonderful piano teacher; and now I want to share my passion with you.

Each third Monday of the month, you are invited to join me during a Musical Interlude; the genre may vary… but the passion will remain unchanged, absolute.

Starting next month, let’s embark together on the most magical journey of all: MUSIC.

Looking forward to reading you,

*on a side note: Morgan’s guitar covers are, in fact, so good, he got reposted on Instagram by Metallica… I mean… METALLICA! Isn’t absolutely awesome?!

Agnès Maelström is a French author who writes supernatural horror novels portraying terrifying characters dealing with abuse, violence, and trauma. Fascinated with the Occult, she has been studying Witchcraft since childhood. Her debut novel, Porcelaine, takes place in 1993 in Danvers, a small town in Massachusetts built on the remains of the infamous Salem Village. The quiet town experiences a new period of terror when Sarah, a young girl whose sharp humor is matched only by the blade of her knife, meets Porcelaine, a bewitched doll.
